Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Center for Performing arts in Governors State University.

Genre: Musical

Setting: Ancient Egypt

This is a story about a boy named Joseph. He has a father (Reuben), and eleven brothers. Joseph has a talent for telling what people’s dreams mean. Joseph himself keeps having a dream about him being a ruler and how his brothers are kneeling before him.

One day Joseph’s father comes home and gives him a coat of Joseph’s dreams. His brothers, who already think that he is weird about interpreting dreams, are mad and jealous that he gets a coat and they didn’t get anything. So one day while their father was at home and they were doing chores a few miles away, Joseph’s brothers made a plan about how are they going to get rid of him. So when all twelve of the brothers were doing their chores the eleven brothers took his coat, tied Joseph up, and sold him to a couple of Ishmaelite. The Ishmaelite took Joseph through Egypt and took him to see Pharaoh (who was an Elvis impersonator). Joseph was to be Pharaoh’s assistant.

Meanwhile with the brothers, at first they were happy that Joseph was gone, but now they miss his talks about his dreams and to top it off they lost everything. Reuben has been miserable ever since his sons told him that Joseph had died. So they all went to Egypt to talk to Pharaoh and ask him for some food. When they got there they were surprised to see Joseph there sitting on the throne. They asked him to please give them some food and he agreed. Later the brothers took there father to see the Pharaoh and thank him for the food and when they got there and Reuben saw that the Pharaoh was Joseph he was so happy. The brothers gave Joseph his coat back and they all stayed in Egypt to be with Joseph.

*****I give this Musical 5 out of 5 stars. I loved this musical because I like musicals. My favorite character was Joseph. I would like to play Joseph. I think anybody would like to go see this musical.
