The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Reviewed by Younger Son

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

I saw The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University on April 28, 2007.

Genre: A Kids Musical

This is a story about four kids: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. They were sent to a professor’s house to stay away from the war that is going on in there home country. One day while the kids were playing hide and seek, the kids found a wardrobe that led to a magical place called Narnia.

While Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are in Narnia they come across many miraculous things and do a lot of different things like: talking beavers, being chased by wolves, Edmund meets the White Witch who calls herself the queen of Narnia and tells Edmund to bring the other three kids to her, but Edmund would not give his siblings to her so she puts him in her dungeon. Later Edmund does get saved by Aslan’s people. When Peter, Susan, and Lucy get to Aslan’s camp, he gives Peter a sword and shield, Susan gets a horn so that whenever you blow it, help will come no matter were you are, and Lucy was given a bottle of a magic potion that just one drop of it will heal any wound.

After Peter, Susan, and Lucy reunite with Edmund they are so happy, but the white witch comes and claims the traitor Edmund hers, but Aslan gave up his life to save Edmund. Aslan died on the stone table. Soon after that Peter and Edmund go to war, they lost, and were taken to the witch’s castle. When the four children all meet each other there, Aslan came back to life because he gave his life for another. He had even more knowledge of the deeper magic now.

Soon after, Aslan unfroze all of the warriors that were frozen by the witch. So they went into a second battle and Aslan ate the white witch and Edmund got badly wounded, but thanks to Lucy and her gift from Aslan, Edmund didn’t die. Finally Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were crowned kings and queens of Narnia. Many years have passed and the four kids (now adults) have ruled Narnia with many different adventures. While they were riding in the forest they come upon a familiar sight and when they were having a look around they stumbled through the old wardrobe and they saw themselves as the four little kids and were no longer kings and queens and were home again.

**** I give this musical 3 out of 5 stars. I liked this musical because I like how the performing arts center can make such a huge movie and book into a 1 hour long musical with only 6 people doing all the parts. I think that was great. My favorite character was Aslan. I would like to play Aslan. I think any kid under the age of 13 would like to see this musical.
